It's a coaster brake. The Shimano CB-E110 to be exact. You backpedal to break. Unlike a fixed gear or 'fixie' the wheels keep on turning when you stop pedalling allowing you to 'coast'. The brake is only engaged when you pedal backwards.

Don’t worry, its actually quite intuitive, just like driving a car. To slow down, you merely apply downward pressure on the pedals, in precisely the same way you apply downward pressure on the brake pedal in a car; slight downward pressure results in slight braking, firmer downward pressure results in firmer braking and abruptly stamping down on the pedal, well, your bike is going to stop abruptly.

Often referred to as the Dutch brake there's a reason why coaster brakes are so prevalent in the bicycle orientated European cities as they offer a host of advantages over conventional brakes.

They leave your hands free for other things, particularly signalling. As signalling with your hands is often needed when you are simultaneously slowing down to turn. It is so much more convenient and easier to have your feet doing the braking, rather than having to transfer your hands from the brake levers to a ‘signal’ position, and then back again.

Another major advantage is low maintenance. The ShimanoCB-E110 coaster hub encloses all the moving parts responsible for braking in a sealed unit. This means they’re completely protected from water, dirt, road salt and grime. There are no extra brake cables to stretch or brake pads to wear out.

With all the working parts protected from the elements, coaster brakes work just as well in the rain as they do in dry conditions.

The tidy, cable free appearance ubiquitous with a coaster hub is not just aesthetic. Its one less thing to get snagged and broken when securing your bike on city streets and packed bicycle lock ups.

With your feet controlling the braking the coaster hub is also ideal for riders with impaired hand movement.

Yes, All Rossa Cycle Co. bicycles come with a 3 YearWarranty covering manufacturing defects in the Frame and Fork. Non-consumableparts, such as Prowheel Crank sets, Shimano Coaster Hubs, Handlebars, BottomBrackets etc. are covered by a one-year warranty. Consumable parts such as thesaddle, paint, tyres and tubes, chain, grips, brake pads, etc. are not coveredunder warranty.

If you have not damaged your product, we will accept any returns 30 days following your purchase date. We will inspect your bike and a full refund will be issued if we cannot find any flaws.

In most cases we would expect the cost of the return to be paid for by the customer, we will arrange all return shipping for you.

If you're not satisfied with your bicycle after 30 days It can be returned in original box at customers expense. We can help facilitate return delivery.  

If you find that your delivered product has a manufacturing flaw, we will replace the damaged part or product and ship it back to you as soon as possible with no charge. You also have the option of free returns and a full refund of your purchase.

We always require photographic or video evidence for any returns claim.
